Become a member of Fort Snelling Federal Credit Union
The Fort Snelling Federal Credit Union provides financial services to members across the United States. However,
its primary markets are employees and their families of the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building,
and the Fort Snelling reservation. The credit union also provides "business funding" where your accounts receivables are purchased also known as a merchant cash advance. See this website for more info on merchant cash advances. The credit union also serves an "investment area," or a small portion of South Minneapolis.
Within this area, people who live, work, worship, or attend school in, as well as businesses and other legal entities located within the boundaries,
are eligible to join.
The boundaries are:
The intersection of State Highway 77 and 62nd Street, proceeding east on 62nd Street to 47th Avenue South, then north on 47th Avenue to 54th Street,
then west on 54th Street to 28th Avenue South, then south on 28th Avenue South to 57th Street, then west on 57th Street to State Highway 77,
then south on State Highway 77 to 62nd Street, the original starting point.(See the map of our new expanded field of membership.)
More specifically, to join the Fort Snelling Federal Credit Union, you must have a relationship with one of the following groups:
- Civilian employees and military personnel of the U.S.
Government whose primary duty station is the Fort
Snelling Reservation (including the U.S. Department of
Veterans Affairs Medical Center and U.S. Bureau of Mines
Twin Cities Research Center, Minneapolis), Ft. Snelling
National Cemetery, and Minneapolis-St. Paul
International Airport (Wold-Chamberlain Field);
- Non-federal employees and volunteers who work at the
Ft. Snelling Reservation (including the U.S. Department
of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and U.S. Bureau of
Mines Twin Cities Research Center, Minneapolis) or Ft.
Snelling National Cemetery;
- Employees of contractors to U.S. Government entities
working at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport
(Wold-Chamberlain Field), except those eligible for
primary membership in another credit union as of March
4, 1994;
- Retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces or their
dependents or dependent survivors, who are eligible by
law or regulations to receive and are receiving benefits or services from the above military installation;
- Employees of this credit union;
- Persons retired as pensioners or annuitants from the
above employment;
- Spouses of persons who died while within the field of
membership of this credit union;
- Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal
entities located within, the underserved area in Minneapolis, Minnesota defined by the following boundaries: beginning at the intersection
of State Highway 77 and 62nd Street, proceeding east on 62nd Street to 47th Avenue South, then north on 47th Avenue to 54th Street,
then west on 54th Street to 28th Avenue South, then south on 28th Avenue South to 57th Street, then west on 57th Street to State Highway 77,
then south on State Highway 77 to 62nd Street, the original starting point (6/4/2003);
- Members of their immediate families (an "immediate family member" is a spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent or grandchild
of the primary member) or households (a "household member" is defined as someone who is living in the same residence, maintaining a single
economic unit." This is intended to include domestic partners and legal guardians of primary potential members, and those sharing an apartment or
or house on a relatively stable basis; and
- Organizations of such persons.

A $5 deposit into a share savings account is all that's needed when you submit your application for membership. If you are interested in opening
a checking account, you must open it with a $30 deposit.
