The first step in applying for student financial aid, be
it a grant, loan, or scholarship is to complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). These
applications are available at any high school guidance
office or any college financial aid office and should be
completed as soon after the first of the year as possible.
(You'll need your W-2 forms for the year from your
employer.) They also can be downloaded from the
Department of
Education's website.

Applications for Stafford Student
Loans and Federal PLUS Loans for Parents are available at
the credit union. To identify yourself as a member of Fort
Snelling Federal Credit Union, please use the I.D. number
833379 on your loan application.
Parents can borrow under the Federal
PLUS loan program to pay for college for dependent
students, regardless of whether the student qualifies for
other financial aid.
If you've graduated from college and would like to consolidate your student loans, FSFCU can help you with that, too. Regardless of where you originally got your loan, you
may be able to save by consolidating your loans with a fixed rate consolidation loan at Fort Snelling Federal Credit Union.
The Federal Consolidation Loan Information Guide also can provide more details to help you determine whether a consolidation loan is right for you. Or call the credit union at 612-726-9252.
